The secretary bird stands three feet tall and spends most of its time on the ground. It walks in long measured stride. It uses its powerful legs, ending in strong stout toes, as sledgehammers to pound its prey. The secretary bird feeds upon on a wide variety animals and insects including dung beetles, frogs, rats, and small reptiles. It has a white breast and variegated blue top feathers, long tail feather and a crest behind its head.
